The Five Faces of Purim
Fear, Fun, Feasting, Fasting, and Feminism

Join us as we explore the historical origins of Purim and the customs for celebration of Purim in many lands and with many unique traditions. We will also discuss references to Purim in the Talmud and Midrash and in Jewish law. The roles of Esther and Vashti and their connection to the current #MeToo movement will also be touched upon.

Taught by Rabbi Debra Smith (Reb Deb)
Reb Deb received Smicha from the Aleph Ordination Program and is the rabbi of Or Ha Lev Jewish Renewal Community in NJ. She is part of the Tikshoret faculty and teaches the Introduction to Pastoral Counseling course for the AOP.
