SHALOM! READ ME FIRST!

Welcome to the registration for our event "Magic & Divination in the Torah (w/ an Introduction to Hebrew Priestesses)" led by Hazzan Kohenet Shayndel Adler.

DATE: Sunday, January 26 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT
LOCATION: Live on Zoom

In the YudHeiVavHai religion of ancient Israel, the three accepted channels for ascertaining Divine Will were dreams, the urim and thummim (sacred objects handled by the priests) and prophecy. Magic and divination, often facilitated by women, were seen as forbidden, non-accepted channels for attaining Divine Will. Yet we still find examples in the Torah of magic and divination that are presented as indigenous and effective. In this two hour course we will cover a lot of ground! We will:

1. Explore many of the cases of magic and divination in the Torah.

2.  Learn about the various priestess roles in ancient Israel.

3. Meet the women in the Torah who prophesize, divine or engage in magic.

4. Sing chants from the relevant liturgy.
