Info about Congregation Beth Shalom
Who we are: Congregation Beth Shalom is a place where people of all ages come together to be a learning and spiritual community joyfully praying together and celebrating Jewish history and tradition. Our activities include religious school for children, summer camps, family outings, adult education classes, service in the community, Israel experiences, and various interest groups that explore activities and ideas new and old.
A Community Open to All Jews and Their Families, and those seeking a Jewish Spiritual Path: Beth Shalom is a community committed to equal participation by all and welcomes all Jews, interfaith couples, LGBT individuals and couples, and all who are not Jewish but wish to embrace Judaism.
Committed to Interpreting Judaism through a Progressive Lens: At Beth Shalom we live and interpret Jewish tradition, while understanding that we live in times where we may find new answers to old questions. We live modern lives, while not forgetting our Jewish history and traditions.
Our leadership: Rabbi Ed Stafman began to serve as Rabbi of Congregation Beth Shalom in 2008, following ordination in the ALEPH Rabbinic program. Music Director Amber Ikeman, a professionally trained musician, brings spirited, earthy folk music together with a deep understanding and commitment to traditional Jewish melodies to our synagogue.
