ALEPH COVID-19 Waiver

ALEPH: ALLIANCE FOR JEWISH RENEWAL
IN-PERSON EVENT COVID-19 SAFETY INFORMATION

As of June 6, 2024
SUBJECT TO CHANGE

ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal (“ALEPH”) understands that we choose to gather together in person at a time in which COVID and other viruses continue to spread. Participation in in-person programming remains voluntary and participants are welcome to participate in levels at which they feel most comfortable.

While participating in in-person events and programs held or sponsored by ALEPH, consistent with CDC guidelines, participants are expected to practice hygiene and use reasonable caution to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19 and other viruses. Below lists the practices and precautions taken by ALEPH (and expected to be taken by the participant) in order to participate in an ALEPH onsite event “event”.

All practices and precautions listed below are subject to change at any time.

PRE-EVENT:

  • Vaccination against COVID-19 is not required in order to register for an event. ALEPH strongly recommends full vaccination (including booster doses) against COVID-19, but proof of vaccination is not required for registration.
  • If you (the participant) experience any symptoms relating to COVID-19 or other viruses in the five (5) days leading up to an event, please test immediately.
    • If your test is positive:
      • You will not be permitted to attend the event. ALEPH strongly recommends travel insurance to cover the cost of your trip, as you will not be able to receive a refund directly from ALEPH.
    • If your test is negative:
      • You will be permitted to attend the event. Proof of a negative test taken on the day of your intended arrival will still be required.
  • If someone with whom you share a household or for whom you are the primary caregiver tests positive in the five (5) days before you are scheduled to come to an event, it is assumed that you have been exposed as a close contact.
  • All participants, regardless of possible exposure to COVID-19, are required to take a rapid test for COVID-19 the morning of intended arrival at the event location. You will be responsible for the cost of this test.
    • If you take this test in the morning prior to your arrival, you must show proof of the negative result to staff upon your arrival.
    • If you do not take this test prior to your arrival, you must bring a rapid COVID-19 test with you to the event location. You will be asked to take your test onsite, wait the required duration for your result, and show proof of the negative result to staff before proceeding through your registration.
    • If your test is negative:
      • Please continue to practice safety precautions to reduce your possible exposure to COVID-19.
    • If your test is positive:
      • Please email or contact ALEPH staff immediately and do not travel to the event location or proceed.
    • Note about recent recovery:
      • If you recently recovered from COVID-19 and are still receiving positive tests, you will be required to provide a letter from a healthcare provider stating documentation of recovery and submit that letter to the designated online location for your event.

ARRIVAL:

  • All participants are required to wear a suitable mask (N95 or KN95; no cloth masks) during travel in public. This includes all travel in which participants will come into contact with other persons (air, train, bus, taxi, shuttle, etc.).
  • All participants are required to take a rapid test for COVID-19 on the morning of your scheduled arrival to the event. This test should be taken prior to your arrival to the event location. ALEPH will not provide these tests.

ONSITE:

  • Participants will be expected to take a rapid test in the middle of or every two (2) days during an event (to be determined by the event organizers.) ALEPH will not provide these tests and recommends participants bring them with them to the event location.
  • If you receive a positive test during an event, please email or contact ALEPH staff immediately.
    • Should you test positive while onsite, you will immediately begin quarantine. Quarantine accommodations will vary per event. If you are not already in a single room, and an additional single room is not available, you will be required to transfer to another accommodation (such as a local hotel) at your expense. Should your quarantine need to extend past the end date of the program, you will be responsible for the additional cost of added nights and meals (if necessary.)
  • Suitable masks (N95 or KN95; no cloth masks) are recommended while onsite at ALEPH events, but are not required. NOTE: some events may require masking during certain portions of the events. Please be respectful of others around you that choose to wear a mask. Discrimination against those who choose to wear a mask is a violation of the ALEPH Safety, Respect, and Equity Code of Conduct and will not be tolerated.
  • Meals will be served in a dining hall where participants are welcome to spread out according to their preference.
  • Leaders of sessions are welcome to move programs outside (weather-permitting.)

Because COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is spread mainly from person-to-person contact, ALEPH has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, ALEPH cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, partners, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.

DUTY TO SELF-MONITOR: Participants and staff agree to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath) and contact ALEPH staff if they receive a positive COVID-19 test within five (5) days after participating at an onsite ALEPH event.

LIABILITY WAIVER AND RELEASE OF CLAIMS: I acknowledge that I derive personal satisfaction and a benefit by virtue of my participation with ALEPH, and I willingly engage in ALEPH events and/or programs (the “Activity”).

  3. I hereby knowingly assume the risk of injury, harm, and loss associated with the Activity, including any injury, harm and loss caused by the negligence, fault, or conduct of any kind on the part of the Released Parties.

MEDICAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND RELEASE: I acknowledge the health risks associated with the Activity, including but not limited to transient dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, nausea, muscle cramping, musculoskeletal injury, joint pains, sprains and strains, heart attack, stroke, or sudden death. I agree that if I experience any of these or any other symptoms during the Activity, I will discontinue my participation immediately and seek appropriate medical attention.

I DO HEREBY RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE THE RELEASED PARTIES FROM ANY CLAIM WHATSOEVER WHICH ARISES OR MAY HEREAFTER ARISE ON ACCOUNT OF ANY FIRST AID, TREATMENT, OR SERVICE RENDERED IN CONNECTION WITH MY PARTICIPATION IN THE ACTIVITY.

As a participant, staff, or attendee, You recognize that your participation, involvement and/or attendance at any ALEPH event or activity (“Activity”) is voluntary and may result in personal injury (including death). By attending, observing or participating in the Activity, You acknowledge and assume all risks and dangers associated with your participation and/or attendance at the Activity, and You agree that: (a) ALEPH (b) the property or site owner of the Activity, and (c) all past, present and future affiliates, successors, assigns, employees, volunteers, vendors, partners, directors, and officers, of such entities (subsections (a) through (c), collectively, the “Released Parties”), will not be responsible for any personal injury (including death), property damage, or other loss suffered as a result of your participation in, attendance at, and/or observation of the Activity, regardless if any such injuries or losses are caused by the negligence of any of the Released Parties (collectively, the “Released Claims”). BY ATTENDING AND/OR PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITY, YOU ARE DEEMED TO HAVE GIVEN A FULL RELEASE OF LIABILITY TO THE RELEASED PARTIES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
